I am owner and director of Physio In Action and have been in private practice since 1997 specialising in musculoskeletal physiotherapy early on in my career within both the NHS and private settings. As a keen sportswoman myself I understand the frustration often caused by injury and therefore will strive to get you fit as quickly as possible. I have a passion for empowering people to take control of their own health enabling them to develop a positive and active role in injury prevention and recovery.
My practice is built on recommendation, treating a wide range of conditions (sport and non-sporting conditions) using the same ethos of empowering self management wherever possible.
Physio in Action promotes a holistic approach to treatment and also has a podiatrist, psychologist, sports massage therapist and a therapeutic massage therapist as part of its team.
I have also completed several ACPOHE courses gaining expertise in Occupational Health assisting local companies in reducing sickness absence and facilitating early return to work
David J Merlin MCSP
I qualified from the Wolverhampton University Physiotherapy and have over 17 years' experience of working in the NHS with musculoskeletal conditions.
When my professional rugby career came to an end, I obtained a Diploma in Orthopaedic Medicine and an MSc in the Science of Sports Medicine and I have extended skills in acupuncture, sports massage, kinesiology taping, X-ray and blood test interpretation.
I volunteered for the Multi-Sport Games in the capacity of HQ Physiotherapist and was selected to represent Team England at Glasgow in 2014 and TeamGB at the European Youth Olympics in Tbilisi 2015.
This summer I am taking a break from the 2016 Rio Olympics and Paralympics but have been asked to stand in at The British Olympic Association’s Intensive Rehabilitation Unit in Bisham Abbey to help support any injured would be Olympians and Paralympians in their rehabilitation and preparation for Tokyo 2020 and beyond.
"As a company, we have had a professional working relationship with Mrs Tarr at Physio in Action for several years now, using the physiotherapy service for our staff, players and the general public we come into contact with. We are able to benefit from easy access to professional physiotherapy services and would recommend such a service to any business / company, as the quality and professional service Physio in Action provides is faultless."
